
Kamyar Pournazari, MD
Dr. Kamyar Pournazari earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Medical Biotechnology from Wageningen University in the Netherlands before pursuing his medical degree at the American University of Integrative Sciences. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Anne Arundel Medical Center, Luminis Health, in 2023, followed by fellowship training in Nephrology at the University of Maryland Medical Center in 2025. In the same year, he completed the GlomCon Glomerular Disease virtual program. He joined Washington Nephrology Associates in August 2025.
His clinical interests include glomerular diseases, resistant hypertension, kidney transplantation, and kidney stone prevention. Dr. Pournazari recently published an article titled Complexities in Interpretation of Elevated Serum Creatinine in Blood Purification. He has presented his work at the American Society of Nephrology (ASN).
Outside of medicine, Dr. Pournazari enjoys long-distance running and is actively training for marathon races. He also loves hiking and spending time outdoors with his wife and their Border Collie. He is fluent in English and Farsi and is passionate about teaching and mentoring medical trainees.
